Car Buyers Go Green This Paddy’s Day!
According to the statistics, Bio fuel vehicles made the biggest jump up nearly 45% compared to February last year. Electric and Diesel vehicles also made substantial increases by 29% and 16% respectively. Petrol cars were the only cars to fall in popularity with searches for this type of vehicle down 25%, proving once again that consumers are looking for greener, more economic options. 
The research also uncovered some interesting trends in relation to colour choice – green cars are beginning to rise in popularity, with a 48% increase in searches over the past six months. However, black is still the most popular colour search with over a quarter of people (26%) searching for a black car, followed by silver and red. When it comes to the most searched car on the site, the BMW 3 series came out on top, with the highest amount of searches in the past six months.
According to the results, activity on has increased year on year despite the current climate. Most importantly sales times have also improved with over half the people putting their cars on Carzone selling in less than four weeks. And in response to the recent ruling by the European Court of Justice that setting insurance premiums on the basis of differences between men and women is discriminatory, John O’Connell said: “With premiums for women set to rise as a result of this new European Court ruling, it means that now, more than ever, people will need to search for value when buying a used car. has something for everyone with the largest variety of cars to choose from and offering value for our customers is one of our main priorities.”
